However, the album was never released and according to their Wikipedia page, the group broke up in late 2012. They are Cookie Cutter (a really catchy song) and Topless. They released 2 singles from this album, and they were both pretty good. The group had announced in 2010 that they had planned on releasing their fourth studio album named Bluestars 2, which I was personally looking forward to. 4Play quit the group in 2009 and was replaced by Emanuel 'Lingerie' DeAnda. The songs I suggest: Manage A Trios, and Tipsy In This Club. In 2008, Pretty Ricky began work on a new album, Eighties Babies, with an intended release date of October 14, 2008, but the album was shelved due to leaking and creative differences. Despite this being my least favorite album, I still enjoy a few of the songs. If you enjoy senual/"baby making" type of songs, I'd suggest this album to you. Pretty Ricky - Released November 17th, 2009. In my opinion, this is where Pretty Ricky took a major hit in their quality of music. In between Late Night Special and their third album titled Pretty Ricky, the lead singer Pleasure P decided to go out and make a solo career. Other songs that I enjoy on this album that aren't too sensual: Stay, So Confused, and Make It Like It Was. However, Late Night Special included the hit single On The Hotline, which is pretty catchy. Bluestars didn't have too much of that, which made it better to me. Pretty Ricky eventually got a reputation for making pretty sensual songs, and it starts for the most part on this album. Late Night Special - Released January 23rd, 2007.
Other songs from the album that are my personal favorites: Shorty Be Mine, Can't Live Without You, Playhouse, and Juicy. My two favorite songs from the album are Never Let You Go and I Want You (Girlfriend). If you have never heard of Pretty Ricky before, or have just heard the name before, it is still likely you have heard those two songs. It contained the two huge hits that got them on the r&b radar, which were Grind With Me and Your Body. Definitely my favorite of their 3 officially released albums. I hope you give these songs a listen.īluestars - Released May 17th, 2005. They're personally my favorite r&b group from the 2000's (which is likely an unpopular opinion). I'd like to introduce (or reintroduce) to you all the r&b group Pretty Ricky.
In 2018, the reunited band began appearing on the VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop Miami.Hello everyone. Long, before Pleasure P returned to the band in 2015. The group’s later albums include Eighties Babies (2008, previewed but never formally released) and the extra-naughty Pretty Ricky (2009, with the single “Tipsy In Dis Club”).
Pretty Ricky used a succession of lead singers, including vocalists 4Play, Lingerie and J. Their second release, Late Night Special (2007), debuted at #1 on Billboard’s album sales chart, and included the hit singles “On the Hotline” and “(I Wanna See You) Push It, Baby.” In 2005 the band toured with Omarion and other pop-friendly R&B acts in the Scream Tour IV concert series. The band specialized in synthesizer-heavy R&B with lyrics that were heavily romantic and often raunchy “Grind With Me,” a sanitized version of their hit single, powered their debut album Bluestars. In 2004, Pretty Ricky’s single “Grind On Me” began to get heavy airplay on Miami radio, which lead to a deal with Atlantic Records and national exposure. (Early reports said that Joe Smith is the father of all four, though only Spectacular and Baby Blue have the same mother. As of 2018, Wikipedia suggested that only Baby Blue and Spectacular are brothers, with Slick ‘Em as a cousin and Pleasure P as a “family friend.”) The boys began performing together in 1997, with Joe “Blue” Smith taking the role of manager and taskmaster. A product of the Miami music scene, Pretty Ricky began as a band of four young men who went by musical pseudonyms: the rappers Slick ‘Em, Baby Blue and Spectacular, and the crooner Pleasure P.
